Deciding which path to take after graduation is one of the toughest decision someone has to make. Should I work overseas? What about joining corporate world? or maybe build my own business and be a freelancer? Or take a long break and enjoy traveling first? This are all the questions that's going on in my mind as my graduation gets nearer.
The fact that trends keep on changing time to time in every industry is one of the biggest consideration one has to think about before deciding which endeavor to pursue ( I myself has the same dilemma until now!). Back on year 2000 medical fields are very in demand so I took up my nursing course ( sadly, I wasn't able to finish it). Until today Marketing and Sales, customer support, financial analyst, and freelancing careers become so in demand. On my first year as a business student I always have this thought that I need to finish the course fast and always be on track ( this is my promise to myself since the time I've decided to go back to university after leaving my work overseas). Now, few months more and I will finish my bachelor's degree in Business Administration. I'm excited at the same time scared. Scared of what's waiting for me in the real world though I have working experiences already for five years as a customer support specialist and working overseas. I still feel the pressure, excitement, and confusion same feeling of someone who still doesn't have any working experiences in the business industry (Totally someone who is a fresh graduate).
Since I've worked as a customer support specialist for five years I realized that this is what I really love to pursue in my future career specifically Marketing and Sales. Hence, that's why I didn't pursue anymore my nursing course. I love dealing with clients, building rapport with them that sometimes it turns them into my loyal client and sometimes a friend. Thats why I love working as a customer support specialist you were able to start expanding your connection without you knowing it (for me its a bonus perk of this industry) specially when you're really good at it.
My course in Far Eastern University- Manila is a generalist one meaning we don't have specialization in a specific field of business ( I belong to the old curriculum thats why) but our course has the scope of all the main category of building and managing a business like Human resource, Financial, and Marketing and Sales. I'm so into Marketing and Sales because I know this is my forte and I'm thankful that I'm able to give more focus on this field because of my chosen electives in my academe which is more on the side of marketing, advertising, and sales management. I'm a great believer that if you love what you're doing you need to pursue it passionately and relentlessly and continues learning is a big part of it. This is why I've decided to look for another way to learn more about the field, check all sources possible and read articles about it. I find the Marketing and Sales industry very exciting and makes your creative juices flow as well as gaining confidence with your communication skills.
As I've learned more about this industry a good option unveiled, I can work as a freelancer! Which means I can manage my own time at the same time be with my family or take a quick break while working and still do the things that I love. For me its a great option so I started learning more about it, luckily I found the FVA Consultancy and check about the online courses that they offer. I admit I'm a bit hesitant to try the course because it will add up to my work load specially i have classes to attend to but this makes me think of managing my time wisely and be more productive. The cost of the course is very much affordable ( I'm currently taking up my freelancer course) and I can say that its very useful to my chosen career. It covers the basic of freelancing, creating your own branding, and creating your social media platforms and optimizing it as well as building your professional resume and guiding you thru business platforms like upwork and onlinejobph ( I include my profile for this site so you guys will see how they guide me to build it and to get my profile approved in just an hour!). Honestly, I don't have any idea of this sites until such time I enrolled to their course and its a requirement for us which i find very helpful in the long run.
Currently,I'm offering services like general virtual assistance such as data entry, calendar management, transcription, customer support, and Marketing and Sales.I'll include my twitter account, instagam profile, facebook page, and linkedIn account just to have a quick view of my work during the course. I'm still working on my last few lessons for the course before trying to send proposals to clients online ( some of my batch mate tried to send their proposals already and succeeded to get the job its just that I'm still on my last part of my bachelor's degree and I need to focus on that as well) but I can tell that I'm more confident with the freelancing field and I see a good future with it in the long run because we know where the trends is going now because of globalization. At the end there is no big or small goal, if you want to achieve it then you must pursue it!
